The 1975-1976 eruption of Tolbachik Volcano was the largest basaltic eruption in Kamchatka in recorded time. It produced four large new cinder cones. The eruption cloud reached 13 km in height, and lava covered more than 40 square km. Copyright photo by Sergey Fedotov.
