Fuego Volcano, Guatemala. This 3,763 meter-high stratovolcano has erupted more than 60 times in the past 500 years. Recent activity occurred in February 2002. Most of Fuego’s eruptions are vertical explosions from its summit crater seen in the foreground in the left photo (Acatenango Volcano in the background). The right photo is the explosion cloud from a 1966 eruption. Both photos copyright Bill Rose.
