Snow on the summits of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea Volcanoes in Hawaii. A storm in late February, 2002, blanketed the mountains above 9,000 feet. The snow on Mauna Kea covers about 220 square kilometers, and that on Mauna Loa about 390 square kilometers. Space image by NASA.
